Home Sleep Study Program
We offer state of the art technology in home recording
equipment to diagnose and treat patients in the comfort and
privacy of their own homes. Our goal is to offer the exact
same service you would receive in our sleep center. Whether
you are able to have a sleep study done in your home relies
on
individual
insurance companies. If you are interested in having a sleep
study done in the comfort of your own home, please contact
us or request additional information from your referring
family physician.
On the night of the test, a sleep technologist will travel
to the patient’s home and arrive there usually after
7 PM. They will then proceed to place the sensors and electrodes
on the patient. While setting the patient up they will educate
them on the cause and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea
(OSA). To collect data throughout the night, a phone line
is required to ensure the quality of the study. Once the
set up is complete, the patient will then be shown how to
connect to the recorder, so that when they are ready for
bed they will be able to start the recording sequence. The
sleep technologist does not stay in the patient’s home
during the night. However, a technician is available by phone
in the event of any problems. Once the recorder is retrieved
the following morning, it is downloaded, analyzed and interpreted.
The results will be sent to the referring physician with
our recommendations. If continuous positive airway pressure
(CPAP) is recommended, a titration study can also be done
in the home.
The Morning After…
You will carefully remove the equipment yourself, or a technician
can assist when necessary. Each piece of equipment is placed
in a bag for easy transportation and will be cleaned later
by the technician. The technician will then pick up all equipment
-or- you can drop the equipment off at thesleep center.

In-lab studies are
considered the “gold
standard” for diagnosing sleep disorders; however,
we do our very best to ensure you receive the same
quality care in your home as you would in the sleep
center. |
2. |
Generally patients are able to
schedule their home study faster than the sleep center
due to availability.
For patients who are having serious symptomology,
they may not want to wait until a sleep center
has an opening. |
3. |
True environmental conditions
for patient testing versus a controlled lab setting. |

It’s done entirely in your
own home. Many times patients prefer the option of
staying home while
still accomplishing the same testing process. |
